Addendum:

I just read on Wikipedia that the next new episode of The Simpsons will air in High-Definition. But that's not what's gotten me worried. The opening credits, after staying the same since 1990, will change. This has "HUGE MISTAKE" written all over it, except in one spot where it says "JUMP THE SHARK." Could the end be near?

I know what you're thinking. But the truth is, Wikipedia is usually right. But I mention Wikipedia because I can't find any further information, and the citation for the Wikipedia article leads to the wrong page. However, this is also mentioned on The Simpsons Archive, which is often more reliable, though poorly-written at times.

Lisa the Drama Queen

This was the first new Simpsons episode in over a month, and according to TV Guide, the last for at least three weeks. So how was it? Confusing. Really, really confusing. Most of it didn't make any sense to me. There were a few jokes I got, but once again, they were the minority. I don't even know why they left out the commercial break between the opening credits and the first act. Or why Fall Out Boy performed the end credits if they had no connection to the episode whatsoever. They could have crammed in a cheap, one-line guest shot for them. So, things are looking rough for The Simpsons in 2009.

I'm Dreaming of a White Inauguration Day

Several inches of snow has fallen on central North Carolina, canceling school all around, including Wake Tech. As of right now, it's still falling a bit. So, I got to stay home and watch Barack Obama take the Oath of Office and become our new president. It was truly amazing, seeing this happen after waiting for it for so long. President Obama gave a great speech and was nothing shy of inspiring. But to be blunt, what I was really looking forward to was the departure of George W. Bush. Look at what happened between January 20, 2001 and today and tell me nothing's wrong. When I heard the crowd booing and singing "Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye" when Bush was introduced, I was just really happy. I was laughing. Immature? Well, maybe. But after eight long years of things going bad, I can hardly wait for things to get better. So, best of luck, President Obama.

School starts again

I recently finished my first day of the Spring 2009 semester. It was two days later than I thought it was. Which is good, because I was really, really sick over the last few days. I feel better now. As far as I can tell, the two teachers that I read bad reviews about aren't as bad as I thought they would be, though some of the reviews I read were right about a couple of things. We'll have to see what happens.

I made it

I made it to 2009. I didn't think I wouldn't, but 2008 was tiring. As usual, I don't know what to expect in the new year. But I will hope for the best. I'm not betting the farm on it, but I believe that all the change, hope, and more change that was talked about in this past year can come to pass. The important word there is "can." Will it? We will see. We will see what 2009 brings. We will see if 2008's words become 2009's actions. We will see if we can end this rather lousy decade on a high note. I'll do my part to make that so. I hope you will too. Happy New Year!
